The Coastal Interpretive Center opened again to the public over Memorial Day weekend and is planning a Grand Opening event for August 4th. If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, here’s some of what you are missing.
As the pandemic ramped up last year, the staff and volunteers at the Center made the tough decision to permanently close in March, 2020. It was a busy year behind the scenes, though, as the team got to work on a complete renovation of the building. They knocked down walls, widened hallways, redid ceilings, installed new flooring, remodeled a bathroom, upgraded to museum quality lighting, repaired a hot water tank, installed a new HVAC system, applied fresh coats of paint, and completed many other structural updates.
The Center also partnered with local and national organizations, like the Polson Museum, Rayonier, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and others, to freshen up existing exhibits and create brand new ones. Now, after 14 months and thousands of hours of work on the Center, the team is excited to show it to the world!
Stop by on August 4th and help us celebrate your new Center. We will have dignitaries and a ribbon cutting along with festivities to match the excitement.
